SYFY Announces SHARKNADO 6 Release Date & Crazy Plot Details

When the original Sharknado debuted in 2013, it became a cultural phenomenon via Twitter. The made-for-t.v. movie generated 5,000 tweets per minute, rendering it a So-Bad-It’s-Good hit. SYFY was quick to capitalize on the film’s momentum and it has become a tradition for SYFY to release a new entry, annually. The series includes Sharknado, Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014), Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015), Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens (2016), and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017). Each film gets progressively more absurd, but also more tongue-in-cheek in its self-awareness.

Fans will be happy to learn that Ian Ziering (with his chainsaw) returns as Fin, the unlikely hero of the franchise. Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo will both be reprising their roles, as well.

Sharknado, SYFY’s unexpected hit franchise. is delving into uncharted waters in its sixth installment, which will involve time travel, dinosaurs, and Noah’s Arc. Sharknado 6 will premiere on SYFY on July 25, 2018 and the plot is the zaniest we’ve seen, yet.

The official film synopsis, according to Bloody Disgusting:

All is lost – or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the sharknados in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when.

That’s right… Sharknado 6 features Nazis AND dinosaurs. Those are two things I never knew I wanted to see, together, until now.

Audiences are expecting celebrity guest appearances, as well. To name a few: Kelly Osbourne, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mark McGrath, David Hasselhoff, and Dolph Lundgren have all graced the small screen as surprise residents of the Sharknado universe. Lundgren (The Expendables, Universal Soldier) portrayed Ziering’s son, from the future, at the end of the fifth film. There is no word if Lundgren will be returning, but we can guarantee the return of all things absurd.
